Did you know that each additional kilogram of weight in an airplane leads to an increased annual consumption of kerosene of 200 liters? Therefore manufacturers of modern planes rely on structure fiber-reinforced materials because these combine low weight with high stability.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT develops system solutions for the networked, adaptive production of sustainable and resource-efficient products and the associated services. Our focus is on process technology, production machines, production quality and metrology, and technology management, and ranges from the fundamentals to the digital transformation of production.

We develop and optimize new and existing methods, technologies and processes for the production of the future. We understand production not only in its individual steps, but in the totality of all processes and interconnections between the elements of the process chain. In this way, we develop both highly specialized individual technologies and complete system solutions for sustainable production on behalf of our customers.
