High frequency physics and radar technology in Aachen

Radar sensors are suitable for non-contact distance or position determination as well as imaging with resolutions in the millimeter range. A major advantage: these systems perform demanding tasks even under harsh environmental conditions. High temperatures, vibrations or zero-visibility conditions due to smoke, steam or fog are no problem. Applications range from systems for reconnaissance, surveillance and protection to real-time capable sensors for traffic and navigation as well as quality assurance and non-destructive testing.

Fraunhofer FHR is one of the leading and largest European research institutes in the field of high frequency and radar technology. We develop customized concepts, processes and systems for electromagnetic sensor technology from the microwave to the lower terahertz range.
